Coming Home to Karambi: Justin’s Visit
In August, Justin returned to his second home to spend time with the Batwa in Karambi. Since his last visit last year, a lot of community development has transpired. People have started businesses, others have graduated, and it was heart-warming to see familiar faces, catch up and hear how far everyone has come.
One moment stood out above the rest: meeting his namesake, Justin, the first baby born at the Karambi Health Center. Holding him was a full-circle moment. Proof of just how deeply Justin belongs to this community.
Justin saw just how far Karambi has come. From the health center, the gardens, the pavilion and the Karambi school whose construction has begun. He also sat with the Omukama (King) of the Batwa, a visit built on years of trust between Fight for the Forgotten and Batwa.
It all came together at the newly completed pavilion, where the community celebrated. Justin joined in, dancing to Batwa drums and roasting meat. The community keeps growing and these milestones have been possible with the support of the Fight Family.
